Harper College's Political Science and History Departments are co-hosting of a public reading of the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday, July 8th from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This is part of a nationwide celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The reading at Harper will join hundreds of others across the country in reading this revolutionary document together, echoing the first public reading in 1776. In the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors to Building D, Room D195. The infighting between America 250/Freedom 250 is a hot mess (America 250 was created by Congress. Trump created Freedom 250.) But this event, which was developed by Hawai'i's own America 250 Commission, has hopes of being a sincere appreciation of our country's founding document. Sign up so we know to look for you at the Pavilion.
Here is a map of the Harper Campus to help you find the Pavilion and Building D (in case of rain), and parking. The Pavilion is on the south side of the large pond that stands north of the Harper Campus. The Pavilion is between Buildings E and D.
