54th District on pins and needles waiting for Election Night results

It looks like the mail-in ballots will need to be counted before we find out who won the Illinois House 54th District. In a race that attracted widespread media attention, ourĀ

Maggie Trevor is down 482 votes. With all 77 precincts reporting, Maggie has 21,131 votes to Republican Tom Morrison's 21,613, according to the Cook County Clerk's office. How long will we have to wait? Cook County saw a surge in mail-in ballots this year-- the Chicago Tribune reported that the number of ballots requested broke the record-- which was set in World War II. The County Clerk will count mail-in ballots votes up to 14 days after the election -- that's Nov. 20. So it could be a few days.
