Resolution on Insurrection and Impeachment

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GREATER PALATINE AREA DEMOCRATS THAT:

We, the appointed and volunteer members of the Greater Palatine Area Democrats Steering Committee, join the Cook County Democratic Party in support of its Resolution of January 14, 2021, condemning the insurrection that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 with the incitement of President Donald J. Trump.

We condemn all the participants and supporters who encouraged this attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election as well as those who have since failed to denounce this effort.

We support the impeachment process in the House, and encourage the Senate to convict Donald J. Trump and declare that he is forever ineligible to run for federal office.

"At this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed."

It with great joy that Greater Palatine Area Democrats congratulates the 46th President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, Jr., and the first female, Black, and Asian American Vice President, Kamala Devi Harris. "This is America's Day, this is Democracy's Day," said President Biden in his inaugural speech. "America has been tested anew, and America has risen to the challenge," President Biden said. "The dream of justice for all will be deferred no longer." Already on his first day, President Biden signed 17 executive orders, including a mask mandate on federal property, and requesting an extension on the moratoriums on evictions and student loan payments. He revoked the permit for the Keystone pipeline, and rejoined the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement. And, his press secretary held a press conference and answered reporters' questions. Pretty normal. We Democrats stand with President Biden in his efforts to tame the pandemic, restore our economy, and work to heal the divisions in our country. As President Biden said: "We have never, ever, ever, ever failed in America when we've acted together."
