Forpe Endorses Flamm for Committeeman

Shirley Forpe, a longtime Palatine teacher and union official, has announced her support for Matt Flamm to be the next Palatine Township Democratic Committeeman. She had had filed petitions to run for the position but withdrew from the race. A resident of Palatine for more than 40 years, Forpe is a retired District 211 teacher and continues as a substitute teacher. She was a Vice President of the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) and is President of the Northwest Suburban Teachers Union Local 211 Retiree Council.

“Now that I have had the opportunity to speak at length with my former opponent, Matt Flamm, I have found that we have more in common than in contrast,” said Forpe in a statement to her supporters. “In an effort to meet my goals for the Democratic Party in Palatine, I hope to work closely with Matt before and after the election. We share similar views and I believe that he is a viable, legitimate and indeed the best candidate for Palatine Township Committeeman.”

Flamm is running in the March 18th primary to succeed Sue Walton, who is not running for reelection. “I’m honored and grateful to have the support of Shirley Forpe,” said Flamm. “Shirley and I share a commitment to public education, to protecting the rights of working people, and to growing the Democratic Party in Palatine Township.”
