Fourth of July in Palatine Township: Democracy Is Up to All of Us
Thank you to all the volunteers and electeds who came out to walk with Greater Palatine Area Democrats at both the Palatine Fourth of July Parade and the Rolling Meadows Foth of July Parade! Congresssman Raja Krishnamoorthi and his family walked with us in Rolling Meadows, along with Cook County Commissioner Maggie Trevor and Elk Grove Township Democrats. In Palatine we were joined by Metropolitan Water Reclamation District commissioners Mariyana Spyropoulos and Dan Pogorzelski, Cook County Commissioners Scott Britton and Maggie Trevor, State Rep. Mary Beth Canty's campaign, Tracy Boland, Palatine Library Commissioner, and candidates for judge and MWRD. State Rep. Nabeela Syed marched behind us in Palatine, so we were all united! Thank you to the many, many volunteers who walked with us in both parades!
Congratulations to Sue Walton, former Democratic Committeeman for Palatine Township!
Sue Walton has a woods named after her! The city of Rolling Meadows, in honor of Sue's environmental work in the city over more than 20 years, dedicated a small woods east of Cottonwood Park to Walton, a former alderman and a founder of the environmental committee in Rolling Meadows. Many folks were on hand to honor Sue's years of public service including Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, State Rep. Mark Walker, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Dan Pogorzelski, and Cook County Commissioner Maggie Trevor. Sue has been a force for Democrats and progressives in both Palatine Township and Wheeling Township, laying the foundation for turning this area blue. Congratulations, Sue!
Join GPAD at Fourth of July Events!!
We're celebrating democracy at this year's Fourth of July events, and we need your help! Come walk with Greater Palatine Area Democrats in the Palatine Jaycees Fourth of July Parade this Saturday, July 1--we need many people to carry banners and hand out candy--we have so much candy! We are number 25 in the parade. You can also volunteer at the GPAD Booth in the Expo at the Jaycees' Hometown Fest--we'll be there Saturday and Sunday afternoons, July 1 and 2. We are Booth 68. Or, join us on Tuesday, July 4 at the Rolling Meadows parade. It's super-fun to walk in the parades--we always get a great response from the crowd. Click on the links to sign up.
